TO-DAY'S PROCEEDINGS.

• There'is a fair average attendance at tho Exhibition to-day, and it is evident that tho attractions have not yet begun to pall upon residents and visitors. In the afternoon large numbers flocked to the principal side-shows. Thursday is a " free day " at the Art Gallery, consequently the pictures are exceptionally well patronised. Sales • continue at a very satisfactory rate. Twenty etchings and a number of small water-colours were sold yesterday. Many inquiries are made in fegard to tho large pictures. Mr H. J. Scott, tho South Australian Commissioner, has received information that the Hon A. Kirkpatrick (Secretary for South Australia) and Mrs Kirkpatrick, the Hon L. O'Laughlan (Minister of Crown Lands) and Mrs O'Laughlan and their daughter, Mr T. Bruce (Mayor of Adelaide) and Mr G. F. Clalland (a prominent grower of olives and wine-producer), will visit the Exhibition coon. Mr T. H. Race, one of the Canadian Commissioners, has returned to Christchurch from a trip to the south. The Victory stall is very well patronised, and good business is done each day in the sale of Nelson relics. The charms, of course, are in greatest demand, and are sold in very large numbers. Serviette rings, trays, plaques and other articles are also favoured. There is s great variety to choose from, and the Sailors' Society seems *o have exlianste-cl its ingenuity in seeking out articles that can be made from the copper used in the famous old battleship.
