Tho Land Commission held a sitting at Kawhia, which vras largely attended. Evidence was given that the whole of the settlors in tho district favoured the freehold or lease-in-perpetuity tenure. Camplamt was made that though the settlers had been in occupation of the land for five years the bulk of them were still without road access of any description. TAIHAPJ3, Juno o. At tho Land Commission yesterday the chairman regretted being compelled to sit oii Sunday. There was a small attendance of Avitneases, the majority of whom favoured the freehold, and opposed the constitution of the Land Boards, which should comprise farmers 1 or men elected by them as best understanding the conditions of the, land. They were strongly opposed to residence clause as unworkable there were no schools or roads. .The sitting occupied an hour.
