THE HON W. HALL-JONES.
{"Pa* Pnras Associatiow., WELLINGTON, May 25. The Hon W. Hall-Jones, interviewed in Wellington, said that he was very well satisfied with the progress made at both ends of the North Island Railway. About five hundred men were working at each end, the^ number being increased as opportunity^offered. -Now the only gap was about forty miles between th© men working at the northern and southern ends, and the men are gradually spreading out- The Minister says he is making . preparations* to largely increase the number of men on the works. during the summer, and is satisfied that his colleagues will provide him with Sufficient funds in order that the line may be completed in about three years. He also indicated that & larger sum than usual would be available for road works this year, and added his opinion that in view of recent developments it will be necessary during the ensuing session to introduce legislation making provision for licensing and the better inspection of industrial and nursing homes.
