[Frou Our ConnS-i'ONDENT.] WELLINGTON, August 27. THE CATLINS RAILWAY. A deputation of Otago members waited on ths Minister of Public Works this morning regarding the extension of the Catlins ] raflway. It urged the minister to give the j line the most favourable consideration possible when framing the Public Works Estimates, and represented the necessity of . utilising the timber available in the dis- j trict. In reply the Hon. W. Hall- Jones eaid that he recognised that the railway was an important work, but the rate of progress would depend on the amount of money available. He would ask the Cabinet to give the matter favourable consideration in comparison with works in other parts of the colony.
