SCENE IN A CHURCH.

I w . i I A PRIEST DENOUNCED. \ The disciplinary committee of the Holy Synod will consider a remarkable case. Tho congregation of the ChuTch of the Resurrection, in the village of Lipovka, Russia, was recently treated tq the extraordinary (spectacle of seeing tbeir priest denounced from the altar by a female parishioner. '_-——* When the midnight service was half-way through the 'church door opened, and in walked the schoolmistress, a young girl of twenty, very popular in the village. Wearing only her nightdreas and with her hair hanging down her back, she walked rapidly up to the altar. The priest fled. The schoolmistress stopped in froat of fche altar, and, turning to the amazed congregation, denounced the priest as the cause of her ruin. Compassionate hands w.re stretched oufc to assist the unfortunate girl, who was taken home. Nest morning the schoolmistress denied absolutely &U knowledga of the incident, declaring that she must have been in a trance. Bufc as the priest did not appear a party went in search, and found him cowering in a hayloft. Ho confessed that the girl*6 midnight accusation was true.
