TROUBLE IN SAMOA.
UNEASINESS AMONG THE WHITE

AUCKLAND, July 5.
' Samoan news states that the white residents at Apia are uneasy concerning certain demands made by the Faipuli natives in Mulinun and the report that they intended to enforce their demands even with arms.The Governor (Dr Solf ) does not attach much importance to the matter. He says he received a letter from the Faipulis asking for a Royal Salute for King Mataafa, for uniforms for all officials, for quarterly •balance-sheets, and that all 'ordinances should be countersigned by Alii Sili. He added that he had given them a strong lesson in plain language, end the Faipulis ■had already sent him a letter of apology. King Mataaia had 1 nothing to do with the letter, which Dr Solf attributed to disloyal whites.
