BIBLE IN SCHOOLS QUESTION . [Per Press Association.] >
WELLINGTON, July 5. The Wellington Diocesan Synod opened its sittings last evening. Chiefly formal business was /transacted. To-3ay Bishop Wallis delivered his opening address. After reviewing the affairs m the 'Diocese, he spo^e at length on the question of Sunday observance. He urged that, it was an imperative duty to join on Sunday in "the worship of God, and to rest from ordinary business and ordinary amusements. On the subject of the Bible in schools he said: — "If Parliament did not grant the request of the Bible in schools party for a referendum on the question, it would be their duty to take such measures berore next general election as might secure if possible that no candidate who is hostile to the movement should be returned to Parliament.'
