It takes the place of " The Kiss of the Enemy," which was concluded last week. The new serial is entitled "A Duel to the -.Death." It is a well-written- story with, a strong plot; the scene is laid in Forfarshire, on the north-east coast of Scotland-; but the characters are not by any means all Scotch, and the English reader is not asked to wrestle with the northern vernacular/ in the dia* logues. The other parts of the magazine section of the paper will contain the following in the portions set apart for tales and sketches : — "Two Russian Ministers," "A Same for Kings," "The Uses of Adversity,"""" Thieves' Queer Superstitions," "The • Old Lady,' " " The Land of Lebaudy,," and jthers. There will be the usual columms for gardeners and bandsmen, and Brief Mention md Humour; the racy column contributed ay the writer of "The Week j" and quite V judget of reading matter of special interest io ladies.
