Eighty inhabitants of Bender, cteclaring that the war was the 1 result of Jewiab instigation, sacked the Jews' houses and killed six people. Thereupon the Cossacks appeared on the soene 2 but without using arms. They telegraphed for instructions, and a reply from Kishineff that they must fire caused the mob to disperse.
