ENGLISHMAN'S SAD DEATH.

KILLED IN AIDING jf GERMAN; PRINCESS. A very sad accident, resulting in. the death of a young Englishman named Wft> liam Davison, an engineer of Newcastle-on-Tyne, occurred in, Berlin on Wednesday, December 16. Mr Davison went to Berlin four days be^ "fore, accompanied* by two other English engineers, in the interests of- several British firms, to inspect Messrs^ Ludwig Loewe and Company's arms and ammunition factories. Qn Tuesday, December 15, they journeyed by electric "tramway-car to'Charlottonburg, to visit the technical high school. When the car stopped at a street crossing a young lady tried to enter by the back platform, on which the three Englishmen/ were stand-, ing. . ' , Just then the car started again : with> a sudden jerk, nearly throwing the young lady to the ground. Mr Davison, seeing her danger, extended his hand, but, unfortunately, the lady slipped and fell, dragging him after her. His head struck the asphalt pavement with terrific fore©, rendering him unconscious, "while the young lady scrambled to her feet z having escaped without a scratch. When it -was ascertained that Mr Davison had sustained a fracture of the skull she began to scream, and wsould not be quieted. Mr Davison was taken to the hospital, where he died a few hours after admission. The young lady whom he so gallantly tried' to aid was Baroness von Rheinbaben, the seventeen-year-old daughter of the Imperial Ministeivof Finance.
