MASQUERADING AS A MAN.
* — , — STRANGE DISCOVERY FOLLOWS A PARIS TRAGEDY. A fashionably-dressed gentleman^ accompanied by a groom', was driving a smart dog-oart in the Avenue die I'Alma- on December 11, when the vehicle collided' violently with a dray, and the young man and the " tiger " were thrown out, the former being badly injured. He was pioked up senseless and conveyed to the men's section of the Beaujoin Hospital, but the doctors there, on making an examination, of the patient, were astonished to discover that they were dealing not with' a male patient, but with a chairming young girl of about twenty years of age. It was impossible to save the patient's life. Subsequent inquiries showed that she was Mdlle Diane Osier d'lvry. the daughter of Count Oziea: d^lvryj a retired army officer and poet. Although tlje story may seem strange to English readers, it may be stated: that it is no unoommon occurrence to see from time to time in the Bois de Boulogne young women dressed as men handling the xibr bons in faultless style. Their object in adopting this' disguise being to avoid unwelcome attention from the opposite sex.
