ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

[Per Press Association.] ] GREYMOTH, December 22. A man named John Hughes > while driving in a trap, collided with a dray, and was thrown out, receiving severe wounds and concussion of the brain. He was taken to the Hospital, where he died this morning. He was oite of the oldest residents of the Coast. A dredge hand named Gilroy, while working at the North Beach dredge to-day, got his hand fearfully mangled through getting it caught in thie cog wheels. It is hoped to save a portion of the hand, ibiifc the accident is a very nasty one.
