The newspapers concerned express regret for, and withdraw, the serious imputations burg-Waldenburg. The allegations regarding her elopement were unfounded. (A London cable message dated November 24, said: — "The 'Daily Mail' states that Princess Alice, wife of Prince Victor Frederic Ernest, of Schoehbtirg-Waldeburg, had been missing sin<Je November 9. Ib i is believed that she has eloped with her j coachman." Next day anomer cablegram, \ dated November. 26, was received, which j said: — "The 'Daily Express' states that Princess Alice has nob eloped, but has appealed to the Pope for a divorce, owing to her husband's unkindness and extra va- j gance." j
