RUSSIAN SUBMARINE FEAT.
The first important trip made 'by .the submarine boat constructed at St Petersburg by M. Bubnoff, an engineer, was a brilliant success 1 . The journey from Kronstadfc to Bjoerkoe and back was (made in thirty-six hours, of which twenty-six werfe passed uninterruptedly bslow / water, the 'submarine making eight to ten knots an hour. Though a terrible storm was raging in the Gulf of Finland at the time', M. Bubnoff said- that the effect of tlie waves was not felt, which makes this method of locomotion was suitable, in his opinion, for passenger traffic.
