i Saturday, Sei'tembeb 12. (Before Mr S. B. Webb, J.P., and 3_Cr W. Radcliffe, J.P.) ' Assaults. — William Diamond^ engineroom storekeeper on the s.s. Turakina, pleaded guilty to a charge, on -which he had been remanded from Wellington, of having assaulted G. T. Hartwe-1, third engineer of the steamer. Ho pleaded not guilty to a charge of having assaulted G. O. Farr, second refrigerating engineer, and to another of using obscene language. Mr Bes- | wick appeared for the prosecution. The Bench, aiter hearing evideijce, convicted accused on all the charges, and fined him £3 and costs, with the usual alternative. The fines were paid.
