SHOPS AND OFFICES BILL.
THE HALF-HOLIDAY QUESTION, [Per Press Association.] HAWERA, July 24.
A public meeting, convened by the Mayor and .President of the Hawera Branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, decided, in connection with the Shops and Offices Bill, that Saturday would be unsuitable for a statutory half-holiday. The clause providing for the payment of overtime during stock-taking was also condemned.
