LINCOLN COLLEGE.

+ ■ MEETING OF THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS. An ordinary meeting of the Board of Governors of Lincoln Agricultural College was held to-day in the Agricultural and Pastoral Association's Rooms ; present — Hon E. (J. J. Stevens (chairman), and Messrs D. Macmillan, John Studholme, junr., M. Murphy, W. F. Buckley and E. Richardson. ♦Sir Georgs Clifford's election was reported 1 , and Sir George attended, but was unable to remain for the meeting. He was cordially received. The director explained how the accident to Cyril Ward happened a short time ago. Tlie boys were enjoying themselves in 'front of the porch in the forenoon, and tho young ma.n climbed up' the wall of the porch. Taking hold of one of the balls on the top to assist his ascent, the ball came away, and both he and it came down to the ground. The youth had a narrow escape, for had the heavy'mass of stone fallen upon him the consequences would have been serious. As it was, his leg was severely cut,/ but he was now almost well again. He felt constrained to make this explanation, in consequence of certain rumours that had been circulated telling a different story. ■ The question of the drainage of the College buildings was 'held over, as well as the suggested construction of a septic tank. The Board confirmed the rule recently laid down, that no certificates apart from diplomas, can be issued to students ; this, however, would not interfere with the issue of certificates of character by the director or the Board. It was decided to interview Mr Seddon on the question of the exchange, of Government land — high country at Hakateramea, adjoining the Board's land — and the chairman and Mr M'Millan were appointed a deputation to see Mr Seddon on Saturday. Messrs Richardson and Murphy were appointed a deputation to meet the Premier at the College. • . / Accounts to the amount of £359 4s 9d, were passed for payment. With a balance of £769 17a lid on May 1, and income from all sources for the month amounting to £74 6s 3d, the receipts for the month showed £844 4s 2d. The expenditure had been £359 4s 9d, leaving a credit balance of £484 19s s<l. ' ftsr some unimportant business had bt;en transacted, the Board rose.
