[Per Press Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, June 5

Mr R. Webster, the champion sprint runner, was cutting \tood, when the axe slipped and inflicted a nasty gash on his right foot, from the big toe to above the instep. Some of the tendons were severed but the bones are uninjured. It is not yet known whether the wound will affect Mr Webster's running powers.
