LYTTELTON.
Tuesday, Dec. 23. (Before the Mayor, Mr J. Grabb, and Mr G. Laurenson, J.P.) Case Dismissed. — John Vance pleaded not guilty to a charge of stealing a paint brush, value ss. Mr G. Harris appeared for the accused. The evidence showed that the accused had picked up the brush at No. 7 Wharf.— The Bench dismissed the case, but commended Constable Oonnell for having arrested the accused, and expresseda hope that people picking thingsup would endeavour -to restore them to their owners.
