Dr " Home left at eight o'clock last) night, intending to ride through in the night, a distance of seventy-five miles, mostly over unmetailled roads. Mr Elliot is the only candidate yet announced > for the Egmont seat. DUNEDIN, Sept. 12. Mr John White, a solicitor, addressed the Port/ Chalmers electors last evening. He announced Ibimself as a strong Opposition candidate. He advocated the curtailment of expenditure, the reduction of borrowing to the lowest possible degree and a big reduction in the defence vote.
