AT LITTLE RIVER.
At Little River, although the news was not expected until the following day, as soon as the telegram announcing that peace had been declared was received by the local telegraph' officer", he took steps to make it generally known; Guns 'Were fired, and all the available bells were. rung, and numbers of people gathered at both the public and Native schools. The children at- each were addressed by the teachers and members of the School Committee, and they sang patriotic songs, and were afterwards dismissed for the day. All the available bunting was displayed.
