CHRISTOHUI^OH. Thursday, "May 1. (Before Mr R. Beetham, S.M.) Default Cases. — In th© following cases, judgment was given for plaintiffs, by default, for the amounts claimed and costs : — Dearsley and Lane v. W. H. Trengrove, claim £1 16s 6d; H. C. Godfrey and Co. (Mr Bishop) v. Mrs Cooper, £4 7s lid j Kenneth Matheson v. Ernest Trickett, £1 6a 6d ; J. Horwell (Mr Malley) v. H. Gibben, 14s lOd. A Disputed Claim. — N. K. Bowden (Mr Bishop) sued ; Mary Ami Timmo (Mr DougaJl) for the sum of £10 15s sd. The plaintiff's statement showed that, for some years, he had supplied goods ix>om Ms store to Mr Timmo, and (before the latter's death, in January t 1901, had arranged that the account shtmld be transferred 1 to Mrs Timmo. The plaintiff produced Ms ledger, showing an entry in the name of Mary Ann Timmo. For-'the defence, it was alleged that no agreement was made for the transference* of tihe account, and that the names 'Mary Aim had been written into the ledger at some other time than that at which the name Timmo was entered). His Worship upheld the contention of the defendant, aad gave judgment for her, with costs, expressing hia opinion that Mr Bowden's assertion that the original entry in the ledger was Timmo, and not Mary Ann Timmo. A Trivial Dispute. — M. H. Stewart sued George H. Watson for the sum of 16s 6d. The plaintiff stated that defendant bad occupied a house owned 'by her, and 1 , after his departure from it, she had f ound that the floors were very dirty, a fanlight was cracked, and a door key was missing. She wanted compensation for this. The defendant denied the statements, and called several witnesses tfo prove his case. Judg^ ment was given for defendant, no order being made as to costs.
