* WESTLAKD NOTES. [From Our Coreespoxdent.] GREYMOUTH, May 1. Reports to hand generally indicate increases in the yields of the dredges that run 250z and under, while Nelson Creek •will top the list easily with at -least loOoz. Leviathan looks much about the same, but a report, which I cannot authenticate, says the wash ie failing off: Notown Creek will be about the same as last week. Greenstone Junction is again improving and Bed Jacks looks well. North Beach will be about the usual amount. Greenstone Creek is looking better, but it is not improving a3 much as was expected. Buller Junction will show an increase. The Hokitika dredge is plugging away in an eddy of the river where boulders have ceased "to trouble, but the bail will * interfere with a. good return. Cailaghan'B ■will bo laid up for a new winch till the end o : f next week. The Shellback ground is opening and improving, and next week should see a good return. The wash is deepening and is easily treated. The Totara dredge, near Ross, started on Tuesday. ' Kohikohi had no wash-up last week. OTAGO NOTES. [From Our Correspondent.! DUNEDIN, May 1. ThQ Great Consols, the Kelly and Casey and the Alpine Consols dredges are still idle and show no sign of starting. The directors of the Leviathan Gold Dredging Company have declared a dividend of Is 6d per share on the preference shares, payable on Monday next. This leaves the company a sum •of about JS3OO in hand towards a second dividend,, if nothing unforeseen should occur. The amount of gold exported from Dunedin for this month was 17,3520z, valued at £70,101. For April of last year 1815oz, of a total value of £6986, was exported. DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE.
