4 A large outbuilding in Grey Street, Ashburton, detached a few feet from the residence of Mr G. J. F. Lublow, and used as a storeroom and carpenter's workshop, was burned to the ground between cue and twoo'clock this morning. A bucket brigade, organised by neighbours, prevented the fire spreading to the dwelling, but the Fire Brigade arrived too late to save the outbuilding, which, with its contents, consisting of "a bicycle, sewing machine, and a quantity of timber and carpenter's tools, was totally destroyed. The building was insured in" the Victoria office for £25, but the contents were not insured. Mr Lublow estimates his loss at £100.
