Mr A. Chalmers, of Lyttelton, has resigned his position as a Justice of the Peace. His resignation is much regretted in Lyttelton, as ihis long experience, strong common sense and shrewdness rendered him particularly well fitted to sit on the bench. His resignation increases the difficulty often experienced in Port of obtaining a Justice to sit in the. Court. Mr Chalmers was" always present on his appointed days.
Miss Gardner, who, for a number of years, has efficiently filled the position of mistress at the Cust School, has forwarded her resignation, having decided to retire from the scholastic profession.
