VALEDICTORY.
Mr William Thomson, wh#-i*^Wvißs .'Messrs Satg&od, Son and Ewen, and about to visit the Old Country, was entertained by his fellow commercial travellers to supper, at the Clarendon Hotel, on Saturday evening. There was a large attendance, Mr Thompson being held in .the highest esteem by his confreres, and good wishes for his future 'health and prosperity and for the enjoyment of his trip'Home were expressed not only in anenthusiastically-received toast, but also by everyone present afc some period of the proceedings. Several other toasts were honoured, and- many good songs were sung, Mr A. J. Merton being in charge of the musical arrangements. Mr Collier's singing of " The Absent-Minded Beggar " was responded to by contributions amounting to £2 2s for the " Absent-Minded Beggar " Fund.
