THE RICCARTON ELECTION.
The result of the polling for the Biccarton seat is : — Rolleston ..*•,.,, 1866 Russell 1867 During the scrutiny, it was discovered that according to the Deputy-returning Officer's marked rolls there had beero three cases of impersonation, but investigation showed that these were purely mistakes in marking off the wrong name. It is understood that Mr A. C. Rolleston, who acted as scrutineer for the Hon W. Rolleston, has announced his intention of endeavouring to upset the election, on the ground that the electors' rights which turned Mr Russell's minority of four into a majority of one, were not in proper form according to the Act.
