SAMARITAN HOME.
*— A meeting of the Trustees of the Samaritan Home was held on Friday afternoon at the Home; present — Messrs C. Hastings Bridge (chairman), J. Hamilton, -F. J. Board, B. P. Manhire, 0. J. Marshall, A. F. N. Blakiston, J. O'Bryen Hoare and W. Gavin (honorary secretary). Tlie action of the Chairman in issuing election notices to the contributing local authorities was approved. The balance-sheet for the period from Oct. 14 to Nov. 17 showed receipts £80 7s Bd, and expenditure £43 9s lOd, leaving a credit balance of £36 17s lOd. The total local contributions had been £76 19s, and subsidy had been received on £50 2s 6d. The balance-sheet was adopted, and accounts amounting to £36 2s 3£d were passed for payment. The House Committee reported that theTe were now in the Home 17 men, 23 women and 8 infants. The Chairman said that, as that was the last meeting before the election of the local bodies' representatives, and probably some of them would not return, he would like to take the opportunity of thanking the representatives of the local bodies for the asistance given by them in carying on the Home. The House Committee especially mentioned Mr Board, who had been of very great service. Mr Board said that the Chairman's remarks were pleasing, not only to himself but to the other trustees. The stand taken by tbe local bodies in the first place had been in no spirit of opposition, but only with the idea of. carrying out what they felt were the original intentions with regard to the Home. A vote of thanks was passed to the staff for the able manner in which they had carried out their duties.
