T ew Zealand Rugby Union this- evening, the proposal to assist ; in forming an Australasian Union was lost "by twenty-one to six. It is believed that j some of the Unions voted against the proposal, fearing that its adoption would 1 mean disaffiliation with the English Union, \ but this is not intended. A motion that the I resolution to submit to the English Union jthe proposed alterations in the laws of the game should be rescinded was. carried by eighteen to 'seven. Mr Marter- stated that the result of his interview with Mr Rand, Secretary of the NeAV South': Wales Union, with reference to the tour of the English team, and it was strongly urged' that every effort should be mavle to induce the Englishmen to visit New Zealand.
