BOROUGH COUNCILS.
NEW BRIGHTON. A -meeting of the New Brighton Borough Council was held on. Monday; present— The Mayor (Mr-R. C. Bishop), Councillors Winny, Pattrick, Rowe, Thomson, Glhnyille and Marshall. Leave of absence was granted to Councillor Owles. Correspondence was read— From the solicitor to the .Municipal. Corporations Association, giving an opinion as to the date of closing the burgess list. From Mr John Ashton, with reference to the appointment of a ranker for the borough. Ifc W as resolved to -appoint Mr Ashton ranger for the borough. From Mr Christie, drawing attention to the fact that part of Palmer's Road had been fenced in, much to the inconvenience of ( the public, and praying that the obstruction should be removed. The Clerk was i instructed to have the road opened for public traffic. It was resolved to appoint Mr E. Timms contractor for the removal of uightsoil and rubbish, and to erect posts at the corner of Ann and George Streets. The consideration of the erection of further new lninps, m ths borough was referred to the Lighting Committee. A pdtroleum :• license for, forty gallons was granted to IJIr A. H.
