ENTERTAINMENTS.
The opening "social" of the Primitive Methodist Mutual Improvement Society \v;;s held last evening. There -was a very <_'ood attendance, Mr J. Lomas presiding. Songs were sung by Misses Wilson, Eva Field, R Fuller, N. Fuller, Mrs Clare, and Mr G-. H. Venables, and recitations were given by Messrs C. and W. Earwaker and Newman Hall. At intervals parlour games were played, and refreshments were handed round at the close of the proceedings. A very successful " social" of the aerated water manufacturers of the city was held at Hobbs's Buildings recently. Between sixty and seventy couples were present, and various songs were given. The music was supplied by Messrs Wells and TayloT. . At tl.e Oddfellows' Hall, Woodend, on Monday evening, the Corrick Famiiy gavn a po ular concert, and gained sev«ral encores. ■. ..' •. ". : . . Tiie Early History Carnival was continued last evening, in the Opera- House, when there was a large. attendance. .The pretty dunces and spectacular 'displays, under the directorship of Signor Borzoni, were much appreciated, and a good- business was done at the stalls.
