[From Our Correspondest.] WELLINGTON, Jan. 25. Mr Pyemoiit, who has been frequently mentioned as a probable opponent of Mr George Hutchison for the Patea seat at the next general election, is said to have accepted an extra clerkship in the Old Age Pensions Department, and the member for Patea breathes freely again. The largest shipment of dairy produce ever despatched in one vessel from New Plymouth was brought down by the Rotoiti this morning. It comprises 10,689 boxes and 335 kegs of butter, in all 380 tons for transhipment fto the Tyster liner Star of Victoria, the first large consignment of dairy produce carried by that line. Pressure is •being brought to bear on the Harbour Board to erect extensive cool store for perishable food products intended for export. It is understood that a life insurance company has subscribed the whole of the £150,000 loan , offered by the** Harbour Board at 4 per cent .interest. The Government is abofct to light the township and sanatorium at Botorua by electricity. The pension claims filed ih Wellington number 120. ; It is understood that the vote passed by Parliament last session for salaries for the Board of the Bank of New Zealand has been allotted — £500 to the chairman, the balance being equally divided bettween the other directors. A representative of the firm of Messrs Weddel (London), who arrived a few weqks ago, reports that he has purchased the Longburn freezing works, near Palmerston North, releasing . the mortgage of the National and Mortgagei and Agency Company. ■
