LAWN TENNIS.

'ihe annual general meeting of the Linwood Lawn Tennis Club was held at the boathouse of the Canterbury Rowing Club last night. There was a record attendance of members, and MrC. Palairet (president of the club) was in the chair. The report iaf |th/s General Committee congratulated members on the completion of a very successful season, the club having won five out of the seven interclub matches. The final contest for the Club Championship had been fought out between Messrs W H Kiver and C. A. E. Ferguson, the former proving victorious. Mr Kiver now held the President's Cup, and would receive the gold medal which attached to the championship The members' roll showed one 'life, nine honorary, sixteen lady and fifty-three men members. The balance-sheet showed receipts £101 9s 4d (including £23 12s 5d brought forward), and expenditure £64 14s Bd, leaving a cash credit balance of £36 14s Bd. The statement of assets and liabilities showed a surplus on the side of assets amounting to £64 17s Bd. Jekyll, J. R. Brunt, W. P. Cowlish'aw, Rev W. A. Pascoe and his Worship the Mayor of Linwood ; honorary treasurer, Mr J. Nicholson ; honorary secretary, Mr W. H. Kiver; committee — Messrs C. A. E Ferguson,. G. Jackson, J. Sinclair W J Bailow, J. B. Wither, H. R. Schmidt and P. Metz; auditor, Mr E. J. Taylor; delegates to Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs H. Murray and C. A. E. Ferguson ; delegate to Sports Protection Association, Mr W. H. Kiver. Mr Palairet announced his intention of giving a Ladies' Championship medal, and Mr Nicholson offered a racket for a consolation prize. Mr J. B. Wither offered £5 for the erection of a volleying board. The thanks of the meeting were accorded to Messrs J. Nicholson and H. Pannell for trophies presented" t o Messrs H. J. C. Jekyll and A. Marshall for donations, ard to the ladies and members who had assisted in prov ding refreshments. The outgoing committee and Secretary were also accorded a hearty vote of thanks, and the meeting closed with the usual compliment to t-ha Chairman. The qnening day was fixed for Saturday.
