THE LAST DERVISH STRONGHOLD; FURTHER DEFEAT OF DERVISHES. PURSUIT OF THE KHALIFA. BLOWING UP A TOMB. Lieutenant-Colonel Parsons, ,the Governor of Kassala has occupied Gedaref, the last Dervish stronghold. One thousand! three hundred Egyptians attacked and defeated} 3000 Dervishes, killing 500, including the -Emir Abdul Fedal, cousin of ths Khalifa. No British officers were injured. The Khalifa is fleeing to Taaisha, but it is still expected tha'fc he will be captured. A nephew of General Gordon, -who is accompanying the British forces, exploded with a shell the tomb of the Mahdi, at Omdurman, and destroyed the body. THE LORD MAYOR OF LONDON'S CONGRATULATIONS. In reply to the congratulations of the Lord Mayor of London upon his victories. Sir H. Kitchener telegraphed his hope that the opening up of these extensive countries would benefit the City of London and British -commerce generally.
