JUNIOR FLAG.
The Merivale-Christchurch Junior Flag match, which practically decided the competition, took place at Lancaster Park on Saturday. The ground was in very bad order, and the play was of a poor description, being ffiainly confined to the forwards. In this department Merivale had slightly the better of matters, and ultimately won by nine points to three. For the winning team tries were scored by Sykes, Smith and J. Marriner. For Christchurch Garsia placed a goal from a penalty kick. Mr A. Lawrence was referee. By defeating Linwood Second by three points to nil, Richmond secured their first win of the season. The winners' score consisted cf U try gained by C. Austin. Mr J. Nixon was referee.
The game between the Albion and Sydenham Second fifteens was played at Sydenham Park, and after a very keenly-contested struggle, resulted in a victory for Albion by thirteen points to eight points. For the winners D. Baxter, Weston and Seatree scored tries, and Craddock kicked a goal from a mark ; for Sydenham tries were scored by Adams and Norman, from one of which a goal was kicked by J. Reese. Mr W. Irvine was referee.
