THE CHAMPIONSHI REGATTA.

[From Our Correspondent.] DUNEDIN, March 28. Late to-night there is but little prospect of the water being smooth in the morning for the championship roAving races'. Another effort is to be made at 6 a.m., and that will be the final, as far as the visiting crews are concerned. Little River will return to Christchurch by to-morrow's express, while Pictonand Wellington have definitely decided to leave by the Westralia. The question as to whether, under the circumstances, the local Regatta Committee has power to declare the championships off has been submitted to the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rowing Association, and this evening a telegram was received to the effect that the championships must be rowed. It is just possible that the Lyttelton Club will be awarded the prize in the Maiden Fours, as the Rowing Association, it is stated, intends to point out to the Regatta Committee that Bonnor, stroke of the Port Chalmers crew, is a senior oarsman. The general opinion seems to be that the Association, having disqualified Bonnor for rowing in an open race, must hold that his class is that of a senior.
