LIEUTENANT JAMES ROSS.
A ggregate 506. Second prize. Lieutenant Ross is so well known throughout New Zealand as a veteran rifleman that it seems almost impossible to make any remarks on his career as a shot that are not common property. He is The owner of the New Zealand Carbine Champion Belt which he has won three times, viz., in 1884,1886 and 1888. Previously to the present year his forte has not been long range shooting, and Lieutenant Ross must evidently be numbered among the envied few whose work becomes sui'er with the advanoe of age. A performance only two points behind the winning scorft is one of which any veteran might well be proud. '<
