PRESENT ATIONS.
At the quarterly meeting of the St Patrick's Branch H.A.C.B.S. last evening, Mr R. P. Lonargan was presented with a purse of sovereigns as a mark of sympathy in his recent troubles, and also in recognition of the esteem and respect in which he is held by the members. The presentation was made by Bro Gresham (president), and supported by the Rev Father Cummings (chaplain) and several other brothers. Mr Lonargan, in a , very feeling speech, thanked the members for their gift.
Electrical cabs weigh about 30cwt, including the apparatus, which weighs about 9cwt. Each cab carries forty accumulators and two motors, with a capacity of eight horse-power if needed. The current re- ■ quires to be increased on rough roads and up hill. The cost of the energy works out at about three - farthings a mile. The battery costs about .£BO, and twenty per cent on the prime cost may be reckoned for maintenance. ' '
