Theatre Royal.— Arrangements are now complete for the opening 1 of the season of Mr Frank Thornton's Dramatic Company, which takes place at the Theatre Royal on Friday. The opening piece will be The Strange Adventures 0/ Miss Bvown, which has been such a success in Australia. The repertoire includes Sweet Lavender and Charley's Aunt. The Governor. — His Excellency the Governor, with Captains Alexander and Wellesley, arrived from Wellington by the Rotomahana on Saturday, and immediately went south by the special train which took the San Franci3co mail. At the Christchurch Railway Station he was joined by Lady Ranfurly, and the Governor's carriage and kitchen were attached to tne train. The vice-regal party went as far as Puketeraki, where they remained over yesterday, and will go to Dunedm this morning to be present at the jubilee celebrations. J . .__ ,„ n « n/ i~
