: _ m The annual meeting of the Christchurch Football Club was held in the Clarendon Hotel on Saturday evening. There was a good attendance, and Mr J. R. Evans presided. The report showed the total number of members on the roll to be 189, consisting of 11 life and 128 active members. The club was represented in each of the Rugby Union competitions, but the form displayed by the various teams did not fulfil the good promise shown at the conclusion of the previous season. The last season's work was reviewed at length, and the members were strongly urged to devote more time to systematic training, and as the Linwobd Football Club was willing to share the cost- of providing Ford'e room with a shower bath, the committee had completed joint arrangements for the use of the room and the erection of the bath. The balance-sheet showed the receipts to have been .£IOO 6s Bd, and the expenditure .£73 18s Bd, leaving a credit balance of .£26 Ss. The assets were valued at £B0 10s, the liabilities being nil. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Eighteen new members were elected. The following officers were elected : — President, Mr R. J. S. Harnian ; vice-presidents, Messrs C. H. Croxton, J. K. Evans, E. S. Havlfcy and N. L. Macbeth ; captain, Mr H. Frost ; deputy-captain, Mr J. S. Middletoh; : honorary secretary.Mr B. P. Gully ; honorary treasurer, Mr' C. Flavell ; managing committee, Messrs F; S. Marley, C. F. Smith • and J. T. Wilson; delegates to Canterbury Rugby Union, Messrs J. S. Middleton, H. Frost, F. S. Harley and B. P. Grully; auditors, Messrs A. L. Styche and D. Hoare. It was decided to open the season on Saturday next, and to accept the invitation of the Wellington Club to play at Wellington on April 9. The number of teams to be entered for the President's Cup was left to the discretion of the committee. A member mentioned the question of players' insurance. The proposed subscription was Is a week, which would provide a benefit of £1 a week in the event of accidents, or £50 at death. Nothing was done in the matter. The customary votes of thanks closed the meeting. At a meeting of the Sydenham Football Club, held on Friday evening, Mr H. C. Harrieon was elected to fill a vacancy on the Selection Committee. The opening game in connection with the club took place on Saturday, at Sydenham Park, when thirty members put in 'an appearance, and a good fast game was played, some of the junior players showing up very prominently. On Saturday afternoon, the Kaiapoi Football Club opened the season by playing a match, Europeans v. Maoris. The Natives were defeated by twentyfive points to three. Both sides showed some very good form.
