crrx guaeds. The annual meeting of the Christchurch City Guards was held at the orderly-room last night, daptain Creswell presided, and both lieutenants and forty-five rank and file were present. Captain Creswell congratulated the company on the success of the past year and on the state of the comDany's finance, and thanked all members for their hearty support. He also congratulated them on the fact that every one of their fifty-nine members had earned capitation. The report of the Firing Committee showed that the company had won all the teams' matches during the year, and the shield of the associated corps for the third time in succession. One match had been lost, that against the Duvauchelles Bay Rifle Club. The championship of the corps had been won by Private Batchelor, Private Bentley being second ; ' "B " class belt, Private Sandford 1, Corporal Thompson, 2 ; second grade "B " Private Allard 1, Private Ward 2 ; "C " grade, Private Murphy 1, Private Vincent 2. Private Wakelin's prize was won by Private Allard, and Private Batch elbr's prize by Corporal Gardiner. Messrs E. Eeece and Son's prize fell to Private Bentley, and Sergeant Wakelin's prize to Private Murphy. The balancesheet showed a credit of .£7O 12s sd, and the assets were .£491 11s 4d in excess of liabilities. The various sectional committees necessary to the efficient working of the corps were duly elected, and hearty votes of thanks were accorded to Lieutenant Bishop and the shooting team,. and to the officers. A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the meeting.
