Mr Kenny, S.M., to-day decided that a chemist who was in the habit of selling" packets of tea in the ordinary course of his business had a right to do so on halfholidays. This morning Mr Jellicoe sent a letter to the Executive Council asking whether they would consider a written statement from him on Philpott's case. If nothing supervenes the execution will take place next week Mr H. Burnes, chief clerk in the Chrißtchurch offices, has been appointed manager at Wellington, vice Captain Rose, who' retires at the end of the year v Mr Burnes comes up in June.
