-T ♦ "' - CANTEEBTJEY BOWING CLUB. This club's Trial Fours was rowed off on Saturday afternoon, over a mile course from Burwood Church to Kerr's, and resulted as follows :— First heat: Gr. D. M'llwraith (stroke), S. G. Styche (3), T. W. Foster (2) and E. Buckeridge (bow) 1; H. Appleby (stroke), A. Cracroft Wilson (3), T. E. Hardy-Johnston (2) g and F. Pculton (bow), 2, The two crews rowed level until a quarter of a mile ;from the winning post, when M'llraith's crew drew away and won by a length. Final : M'llraith's crew beat C. Hawkes' (stroke), C T. Brown (3), K. Warren Fisher (2) and L. E. Langdown (bow). Hawkes went away with the lead, but M'llraifch's crew, who were in better condition, gradually wore them down, and eventually won by a little over a'length.
A meeting of the executive of the Union Rowing Club waß held on Friday evening ; present — Messrs A. E. Craddock (chairman), W. G. Atack, P. A. Moore, D. Lee, A- \AUan, J. B. Norris, F. D. Kesteven, Q. H. Cooper, A. Nicholls and J. Wallace. The Treasurer submitted a statement of accounts, which showed a substantial balance in hand after payment of all accounts. The custodian, Mr J. Stinnear, was voted a bonus in recognition of the satisfactory manner in which he had carried out his duties during the season. It was decided to hold the annual smoke concert and presentation of prizes on April 15, and Messrs Allan, Craddoelr and Lee were appointed a sub-committee to carry out the arrangements. It was decided to order twenty sets of oars and sculls from E. Ayling and Sons, London, to arrive at the beginning of next season, Mr J. Gould, President, having presented the Club with a very handsome silver cup, a hearty vote of thanks was acccorded to him. It was resolved to hold the usual winter assembly dances, and Messrs Cooper, Craddock and Lee were doputed to conduct them. The prize list for the season having been passed and a large quantity of correspondence <*ealfc vrith, the meeting closed.
