The Cabinet has not yet definitely refused to hear Mr Jellicoe plead the cause of Philpott, who is lying under sentence of death, but has relegated the question to the Governor's return from the south. In the Divorce Court Rosa Wilson obtained a decree nisi on the ground that her husband, James Willoughby Wilson, was already. married when he married the plaintiff. Wilson has disappeared, but it was stated in Court that he has since been married again in Auckland. In Do wsetit v. Dovsett the husband obtained a decree on the ground that his wife two years after the marriage, which took place in 1886, became a Mormon, and went away with her father to Utah, where she married again. The seven o'olock train from Wellington collided with a. sheep train at Mangamahoe owing to the brake of the . latter, not working. The' stock train engine was disabled, but the mail train went on.
