The Massey- Harris Company applied for a permit for a private race meeting to be held on March 28. It was decided to reply that the League exercised no jurisdiction over private race meetings, and the status of the riders competing would not be affected. The captain of the University Cycling Club, Dunedin, wrote stating that as the club intended at an early date to affiliate, it wished to know if the League's rules would prevent cash and amateur riders competing together in a road race. > It was decided to reply in the negative, as the governing body took no cognisance of, road racing, except to the extent that amateur riders would have to take trophies as prizes. The Nelson Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club wrote, stating that at a special general meeting held last week it had been unanimously decided to affiliate with the League. The club expressed its thanks to the executive for sending Mr W. E. Thompson to represent it at that meeting. The application for affiliation was granted. The Napier Wanderers wrote confirming its telegram of the previous week with regard to its affiliation with the League. The club appointed Mr H. Swan as local officer of the League, and Mr J. C. Cowell as handicapper. These appointments were confirmed. Tha joint committee of the Dunedin clubs wrote that it had decided to have lap prizes for the championships. Some considerable discussion took place, and it was ultimately decided that as lap prizes would not be practicable in all cases, it should be a recommendation to the Dunndin Committee that the question of pacing should be left over xmtil the day of the meeting, and that the whole matter should be left in the hands of a representative of the executive, and one representative of the Dunedin clubs. Mr Thompson was appointed as representative of the League at the meeting. The Secretary (Mr Kesteven) reported that the credit balance of the League stood at ,£73 16s Bd. Mr H. R. Woon, of Wanganui, telegraphed that the Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club there would shortly hold a special meeting to consider the question of altering its constitution. On Mr Atack's motion it was decided that, as the season was nearly over, members of clubs bow affiliating should not be charged registration fees, and that the affiliation subscription should be limited to one guinea for the present year ; these terms to apply to the Nelson and Napier clubs. The question of drawing up a circular to be issued to Alliance Clubs, advocating that they should instruct their delegates to vote at the special meeting of the Alliance in accordance with the feeling of the clubs and not in accordance with the personal prejudices of such delegates, was left in the hands of a select committee.
