RABBITS FOR EXPORT.
1 The Southland News says : —Babbit trapping is now in full swing all over the district, and the various factories are kept busy receiving ami preparing "bunny" 1 for export. In the Hokonui and Forest Hill districts alone there must be between forty and fifty haude engaged trapping. What the number is for the whole of Southland we cannot say, but it mußt run into hundreds, so that the industry, especially as it is briskest in the winter months, when work is scarce, ib of great value in absorbing surplus labour. In settled districts this method of keeping down the rabbit is also stated by farmers to be the most effective.
