OTHER MATCHES.
A match was played on Saturday between the Suraner Club and the employes of Bates's steam cabinet works, and resulted in a win for the latter. A. E. Bates, W. Bates and A. Andrews were the most successful batsmen for the winning team. W. Bates and A. Andrews did well with the bowling, the former taking five wickets for 10 runs. The principal batsman for the home team was Barker, and Gilpin was the most successful bowler. A match was played at Marshland on Saturday between the Sydenham Gospel Mission and Marshland, and resulted in a win for the former by 10 nans. The scores were.-— Sydenham Mission, 36 (Donnelly 15) and 21 (Wilson 8 not out) ; Marshland 5 and 48 (W. J. Walter 17, J. Head 12, and D. Dunlop 9). Love, D. Petrie, and H. Petrie bowled best for the winners, the former taking nine wickets for 9 runs ; and W. J. Walter, J. Head, and A. Lange for the losers, the first-named taking ten wickets for 12 runs. At Kaiapoi Park on Saturday, a match ■was played between the Linwood First Eleven and Kaiapoi Second, and resulted in a win for the visitors by 5 runs. The scores were— Linwood First 64, Kaiapoi Second 59. For the winners, Fleming 41 and Thompson 7 were the chief scorers, and for Kaiapoi, J. Hosfall 16 and H. Oram 12 were the highest. The bowlers for the winners were Ford, Fleming and Taylor, and for Kaiapoi, M. Lynskey, Gr. Oram, D. M'Gregor and J. Hosfall. Afternoon tea was provided by the local team. On Saturday the Rangiora and Kaiapoi teams met on the ground of the former The home players batted first, and were all disposed of for 43 runs, Sale making 16. Kaiapoi scored 10S, of which Clayton made 43, and Featherstone 20. Eangiora commenced a second •• innings, and when time was called had made 46 for the loss of six wickets. For Kaiapoi, Bate, Martin, Koll and Clayton bowled, and for Eangiora Gulliver did best, his analysis being 11 overs, 7 maidens, 3 wickets, 5 runs.
