COUNTY COUNCIL.

MACKENZIE. The monthly meeting of the Mackenzie County Council was held on Monday, when all the members were present. It was decided to call for tenders to supply 1000 bushels of oats, for immediate delivery, for the Council's teams, this being considered likely to prove more economical than a contract for delivery as required. Four tenders were received for a ten years' lease of the Pukaki Hotel : J. Richmond ,£4O, J. Young .£45, J. Bain .£45 Us lOd, and H. P. Manaton .£52 a year. The tender of Mr' Manaton was accepted. The Council agreed to allow the. outgoing tenant £20 for two bedrooms he had added to the house. An offer from the Survey Department o£ a second .£IOO to be spent in improving the tourist road through the Mackenzie Plain was accepted. The Treasury advised that the loan of =£850 for the construction of a water-race from Silver-stream to Fairlie had been granted, subject to a favourable poll being taken. The Engineer was instructed to make a trial survey for a water-race to supply the holdings between the Tengawai and Coal Creek. A number of applications for road works were attended to. Dr Hornibrook reported the occurrence of a few eases of infectious diseases in Fairlie, in consequence of which he had recommended that the school should be closed for a week. An offer by Mr J. H. Doyle to give .£2O for the right to cut out the pinus insignis from twenty-five acres of the Ashwick Flat plantation within two years was accepted. Accounts amounting to £150 3s 7d were passed for payment.
