HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
One of the most successful shows yet held under the auspices of the Christchurch Horticultural Society was opened to-day at the Art Gallery. Owing, however, to some, delay on the part of exhibitors in sending in their products, the judging was barely finished at two o'clock this afternoon. It is questionable if better grouping has been seen here. The collection of foliage begonias is of a high order of merit, many of the table decorations show high artistic skill, the dahlias are at least equal to those of past years, and the vegetables and fruit are excellent throughout. The prize list was as follows : — Nurserymen.— Collection of pot plants staged for effect— W. Jones, 1 ; J. E. Yates, 2, Col eotion of foliage begonias— W. Jones, 1.
