JOURNALISTS 3 INSTITUTE.
— .&. . [Per Pktcp.s Association.] WELLINGTON, Jan. 28. At a meeting of the Wellington Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Journalists to-day, a circular which had been issued by the president, Mr Gresley Lukin, was considered. The circular urged that, in order to vitalise the Institute and invest it with tho strength that can only flow from numbers, steps should be taken to organise such system of co-operative aid, mutual help and social intercourse among journalists, directly through tho medium of the Institute as shall make a strong inducement' to all Press men throughout the country on the ground of self-intere.?t alone to |join its ranks. After a lengthy discussion, devoted chiefly to the proposals respecting the establishment of a Press Club iv Wellington, it was decided, on tho motion of Mr Hornsby, that tho proposals contained in the circular should bo adopted with a view to having the whole matter gone into by a sub-committee consisting of Messrs Lukin, Hornsby, Brookes and Nolan.
